The Goonies 20th Anniversary
The Goonies 20th Anniversary is a side scrolling platform game that takes fans of the movie down memory lane. The game has bright and colourful graphics that will remind fans of the movie of their childhood. The music and soundtrack are also very atmospheric and will help to set the mood of the game. The gameplay is quite difficult and even seasoned gamers may find it tough to master, but it won’t be too frustrating, as passwords are available to skip levels in the later stages of the game.
Brain Games created this remake of The Goonies, which was originally released for MSX by Konami in 1986, for the Retro Remakes competition. The gameplay is very similar to the original, and it involves the player saving The Goonies from the Fratelli Gang by beating a series of maze-like underground tunnels filled with traps and enemies. The player controls Sloth, and he must jump, dodge, climb, hit and run through the levels to collect keys and open the doors to where the kids are locked up.
Jeff Cohen, the actor who played Chunk in The Goonies, will be in Astoria on September 25 to host a multimedia program about the movie. He will talk about the film, his cast mates (who still stay in touch), the possibility of another Goonies movie and more. The program will be held at Astoria High School at 2pm.
